The Play with Plague: TNA Report for 07/30/09

Back to home

EPISODE #200

Earlier, Kurt was flipping out, saying that this situation is unacceptable, and that they’ll take out Lashley, Foley, and any one else in the way.

TNA starts with a nice long entrance video, basically TNA history from start to finish.

The MEM head out, and guess who takes the mike? Kurt starts off on his rant about how Bobby Lashley tried to make a name for himself against the wrong people last week. Now Angle has to uphold his and the Mafia’s reputation. He does ask him why he broke the agreement that the two had to bring Lashley into the Mafia.

Lashley comes out, holding Sting’s bat. Or a black baseball bat, but it’s symbolic. Bob says that he did want to join, but then he saw what the group was about. They aren’t hungry anymore, but he still wants gold. But the Mafia prefers to cheat and steal their way to victory. Um, have you ever seen the Godfather? One, two, or three? That’s kinda what the Mafia does. But Kurt can’t buy him. Angle says that’s only true because he’s young and stupid. But Lashley says he has a deal for Kurt that he can’t refuse.

Foley comes out and thanks Bobby. He does say that the Board is waiting for the monster ratings Kurt promised. The offer is Mick & Lahsley vs. Kurt and Nash, with both of their titles on the line. And what is Mick putting up? Ratings of course! Wait, what? You couldn’t think of anything realistic worth putting up the titles for? TNA, you dropped the ball a little there.

Match 1: Hernandez vs. Samoa Joe

Ads

The match starts with Joe working some quick kicks to the leg of Hernandez. He bounces off the ropes, and walks into the shoulder charge. Joe gets up and goes for a suplex, but it’s blocked, then Hernandez pulls out a looong stalling suplex. In the corner, Joe hit’s the rock bottom thing. Okay apparently that’s a really frequent move for him, it needs a name. Someone help me out. He follows with an knee drop and punches, then a capture suplex.

Super Mex gets flipped onto the apron, and Joe runs at him, only to get shouldered and then hit with a flying shoulder block. He splashes Joe in the corner, hit’s a spine buster, and gets a two count. He goes for a power bomb, but Joe flips him over. He ends up trying to superplex Super Mex (ha), but gets blocked, and then Hernandez hit’s a frog splash, and gets the win.

Winner: Hernandez

Match Rating: 7/10. Decent opening.

JB interviews him after the match, and he says that he’ll be the first Latino TNA World Champion.

During the break, we saw Joe flipping out and kicking trash cans. Tazz says that he didn’t beat you. You beat you.

Cross the line promo.

Lauren is with Matt Morgan. Blah blah…I take steroids…blah blah blah…Main Event Mafia…Blah stutter stutter…AJ Styles.

JB is with AJ. JB says that AJ’s had a couple of tough weeks, losing the belt, and then what happened with Eric. He says that he didn’t see the EY thing coming, but their paths will cross again. Regarding Matt Morgan, he says that he found the fight he was looking for.

Ads

JB is with Bobby and Mick. He asks Lashley what happened between Lockdown and now? He was talking to Kurt and training for his other fight, which he won by the way. Last week, he saw Mick fighting for the company, and that changed his mind. Mick was also fighting for his pride he informs us, and they agree that they need to take a title away from the MEM.

Match 2: Matt Morgan vs. AJ Styles (First in the Best of 3 series)

Ads

AJ starts off with headlocks on Matt, who attempts to slam AJ, who counters by twisting in midair and landing on him, and then dropkicks a sitting Matt Morgan. Morgan gets up and catapults AJ over the ropes to the floor, and slams him back into the ring once he gets on the apron. In the corner, Matt takes his elbow pads off and goes to work, then hit’s the Steroid Splash. Matt throws Styles headfirst into the turnbuckle, and gets a 2 count.

He misses a Carbon Footprint and gets hung up on the ropes. AJ mounts some offense with a couple of dropkicks, then a springboard forearm. Matt gets up, and AJ hit’s a Pele, followed by a springboard 450 splash!

Winner: AJ Styles

Match Rating: 7/10.

Lauren is with Brooks, who says that she did what she had to to survive. She had been calling TNA, but they never gave her another shot. So she decided, screw TNA, and now is MEM property. Wilde comes in and says that she was the original Knock Out, and that she looked up to her. Brooks does the mature thing. Mocks her. Then she says that wrestling isn’t for ladies, it’s for bitches.

West had an interview with Tara, and he asked her about her time with WWE. She said it was a dream, but it had to end. There was a point that she felt like she wouldn’t be happy again even though she loved what she was doing.

In TNA, she wants to wrestler Kong. He asks her about the controversy at Victory Road, then goes right back to Kong. I really really really really really hate listening to Don West. But Tara is in TNA to prove that she still has it.

Match 3: ODB, Awesome Kong, & Tara vs. The Beautiful People

Tara starts off against Love, and the advantage is taken predictably. Tara hit’s a shoulder charge, then takes down the rest of the Beautiful People, but gets hit in the back from Love. ODB and Kong come in and clear out the rest of the BP, and Tara has the advantage again. She hit’s a scoop slam, but Love manages to tag in Rayne, who comes in, but is taken down by a drop toe hold. ODB comes in, and splashes Madison in the corner.

Kong is in, and she chops Rayne, but then slaps Tara to tag her back in. In the crowd, the MMG are holding up signs saying “Conspiracy Victims” and “Yes we still work here”. Seriously, what the hell. They’re the best tag team in the business today. Put them on!!! Tara and Kong end up having a staredown, and fighting each other. They both exit the arena, and ODB goes in and cleans house until the numbers game catches up.

Sky is hitting elbow drops, then tags in Love, who hit’s a dropkick. She chokes ODB on the ropes, and she calls Love a whore again. Haha. Love starts taunting the Deaner, and he heads up onto the apron. He gets ready to hit her, and Love says lay one on me. So he kisses her, and ODB rolls her up for the win. Let me reiterate. Kissed Deaner. Wow.

Winner: ODB. And I guess Kong and Tara

Match Rating: 6/10

The Foreign Faction is coming out.

Recap of what happened last week with the FF.

Apparently they’re now being called the World Elite, and Eric is the leader. He has like a 5 minute speech, but I’ll sum it up. I used to be a clown. Now I’m not. Death to America. Olululululu!!!

Okay, he didn’t actually do that last bit. I would’ve pissed myself if Basher did it though.

3D comes out, who reminds them that this is America. Love it or leave it. He says they’re nothing more than punks with big mouths. And when he tells Devon to get the tables, its America talking. That’s basically what he was saying too.

Match 4: Team 3D vs. The British Invasion (IWGP Tag Team Titles) (Tables Match)

3D comes in punching.

Ads

We come back to Williams beating up Bubba. Devon and Magnus are in the crowd, and Devon throws him into a wall. Now everyone is in the crowd, and Bubba throws Williams into the wall. And Devon Irish whips Magnus into the wall, again. Bubba and Williams go back into the ring, and Bubba hits bionic elbows on Williams, Basher, and Kiyoshi. Devon goes top rope, kicking EY as he does, and hit’s the Whassup on Williams.

America: GET THE TABLES!!!

They set it up in the ring, but the Brits take advantage. They try to double suplex Bubba through the table, but Devon pulls it out of the way. He clotheslines Doug out, but knocks Earl Hebner down, Magnus mounts up on Devon in the corner and starts punching, but Devon power bombs him through the table. EY comes in and botches a belt hit on Devon, and then arranges the scene so it looks like Devon went through the table. The ref calls for the bell.

Winners: The British Invasion (Bullshit)

Match Rating: 5/10

Comic Con recap.

Lauren is trying to talk about Rhino and the soldier’s training, until Dr. Stevie comes in screaming about $50,000. I honestly don’t know why. But he says he’s going to treat Abyss like an animal.

Training video, but it gets interrupted, because Booker and Scotty ran in and attacked Bobby and Mick. Security pulls them away, but Kurt gets by and hits Bobby with a lead pipe.

Beer Money is fighting Scotty and Booker now, and it looks like the Mafia has the advantage, but we get blacked out.

Match 5: Mick Foley & Bobby Lashley vs. Kurt Angle & Kevin Nash (Both titles up)

Lashley’s music plays, but he doesn’t come out. Mick however does. Kurt runs towards him, but Mick just starts punching his way down the ramp, and throws Kevin into the rail. Foley is in the ring, and Kurt goes in to face him. He goes around, smashing Angle’s head into the turnbuckles. He starts punching Kurt in the corner until he falls, then unloads with a charging knee to the head.

Nash clotheslines Mick from behind, and Kurt starts punching him, and knocks him outside. He proceeds to smash Foley’s head into the steps. Back in the ring, Kevin gets tagged in and hits some rapid fire knees in the corner, and…my Tivo cuts off.

Damn you Tivo!!!

Thanks to TNA.com, I saw the end…

Kurt has an ankle lock in, but the lights go out, and the familiar music hit’s the air. It’s Sting!!! He’s in the audience, and he stares down the MEM, until the lights go out again. When they return, Bobby’s in the ring, and cleaning house! He spears Nash, and Mick covers.

Winner: Mick Foley & Bobby Lashley (Mick is the Legends champion)

Match Rating: Um, I can’t be entirely sure. But I’ll give TNA the benefit of the doubt. 9/10

Show Rating: 8/10. Pretty good 200th episode. Could have been better though.

I hope Lashley brings his original Dominator back…
