Straight Blazing: ECW Report for 07/21/09

Back to home

Goldust Is Better Then You...

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to this weeks edition of Straight Blazin! We will be covering the 7/21/09 edition of ECW! Now this is the last ECW before the Night of Champions Pay Per View and its sure to be chock full of storylines leading up to it! So before I get into the ECW show lets take a look at my Night of Champions predictions!

Divas Title Match: Mickie James v Maryse©

As much as I would sit here and love to say that Maryse will retain the title.. I think its around that time where they give the belt to a face and Mickie James is very popular.. Though im not sure why as she is NOT good looking and she really cant wrestle for crap.. But I see Mickie James winning, Though I am rooting for Maryse

US Title Match: MVP v Big Show v Jack Swagga v The Miz v Carlito v Kofi©

This one is interesting as they are seemingly losing interest with Kofi as a champion.. You have three young guys who have decent pushes and support from the back in Miz, MVP, and Swagga! The only obvious outcome to me is Carlito and Big Show will NOT win.. Id love to see Show win.. But it wont happen/ I think that maybe Swagga will walk off this card with the US Title.. It would be nice to see him with gold again

IC Title Match: Dolph Ziggler v Rey Mysterio©

I can only hope that Dolph wins this match and finally gets a title and gets it off Rey for good.. I really think Dolph could be good in the company if giving the right push.. And here it is.. I expect Ziggler to win in a sneaky situation.. Maybe cheating and then a quick roll-up..

ECW Title Match: Christian v Tommy Dreamer©

Christian better win his title back at this PPV and get it off of Dreamer. The whole “sympathetic” champion has run its course and I think its time for Christian to assume the Champions role possibly in a heel fashion. Rooting and betting on Christian

Unified Tag Team Title Match: Chris Jericho© and ??? v Legacy

Firstly I believe that Chris Jerichos partner will be Chris Masters.. And I think they will lose the titles to Legacy and then they will feud on Smackdown over it.. I think its Legacy’s time to hold the gold and to finally make that stable mean something. As well as Masters has reportedly been signed and this would seem a perfect opportunity..

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Jeff Hardy v CM Punk©

Jeff Hardy is leaving the company after this PPV.. He has been counting down on Twitter about it so he will in NO WAY be winning the title unless he really went to full extents to pull the wool over our eyes. I think it’d be foolish to have CM Punk drop the title this soon regardless.. GO CM PUNK!

WWE Title: HHH v John Cena v Randy Orton©

Randy Orton SHOULD retain his title and keep the age of Orton going on for a bit more.. The WWE lately has been all about title changes involving the World titles.. But I think they might stick with him.. If anyone wins it, It will be John Cena.. I am a huge Orton and Cena fan.. As long as Trips doesn’t walk away the champion.. Im happy..

ON WITH THE SHOW!!!

The match kicks off with some cheesy Nintendo 64 music and we get Yoshi Tatsu coming down to the ring looking pumped! He got a good reaction from the crowd as well, His opponent would be William Regal! Regal is one of the more underrated talents in WWE and I feel that he deserves more respect/credit then he gets.. He should be able to carry Yoshi well and make this match a good opening contest. Regal got on the mic and cut a typical promo saying he was going to beat Yoshi and then the match got underway!

William Regal absolutely pummels Yoshi with his ground game for the beginning of the match and seemingly keeps him in a submission hold for the first 5 minutes of the match! He nails a VICIOUS looking Butterfly Suplex in there as well for a nice spot.  Yoshi does a nice Pele looking kick to start gaining some momentum then him and Regal exchange Chops and Uppercuts to the crowds pleasure and the match is really picking up steam! Yoshi nails several knee strikes then does a rolling flip into a back kick to the head. He goes up to the top and Regal knocks him down to set him up for his running knee strike, Yoshi reverses the move and nails him with a Yakuza Kick and defeats William Regal! Go Yoshi!!

Match Review

Gotta love the fact that Yoshi Tatsu is getting a decent push and a good reaction from the crowd.. Maybe actually get him a finisher and not a simple kick… But not bad at all..

Commercial Break after hyping up the Abraham Washington show..WHICH NEEDS TO GET OFF MY TV RIGHT NOW

We are back and its time for Ezekial Jackson to destroy yet ANOTHER jobber.. Now physically Ezekial Jackson is just so impressive.. And I wish he would either learn some good mic skills or get him a mouth piece to really complete the package with him.. He nails 2 clotheslines on the jobber and then nails a choke slam on him and he picks up the victory easily of the local jobber

Match Review

Ahmed Johnson 2.0

After the match out comes Vladimir Koslov down to the ring and it looks like Ezekial and Koslov will be staring down at one another but instead Vladimir picks up the Jobber and destroys him as well with The Iron Curtain. This leaves Ezekial Jackson looking perplexed and maybe a decent feud on the horizon for these two.. Two monsters squaring off or maybe even teaming up? Could make for some good stuff..

Next up is some stupid Dear Divas thing.. I zoned out.. If you really wanna know what they said? Go watch E! or something… Apparently.. To ask them questions log onto the website and maybe they will answer your question! And maybe I wont care!

Commercial Break

Come Back.. And..

SHATTERED DREAMS PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS!!!

GOLDUST!! Epicness when Dustin Runnells is around.. And he is up against Shelton Benjamin in what should be a decent matchup! Like I said it really impresses me the shape that Goldust is in! He is looking to be in the best shape of his life and it shows in this match as him and Shelton have a wonderful back and forth match up!

Quite a few close calls for both men and good looking combos as well and this is turning into a great match and finally Goldust seems to have the win when he reverses a move by Shelton Benjamin but TOO close. Shelton hit’s the Pay Dirt out of nowhere and picks up the win! But what a hell of a performance by Goldust in this match!

Match Review

Loving this match.. Goldust on top of his game and Shelton looking impressive as always = A Win!

Commercial Break

Come back from commercial break and we have a short promo from Sheamus saying how he is the real deal and he is going to make a mark here in ECW. It was a decent little few minute RP, and then we go right into the announcers recapping the NOC Lineup!

Now we are to the back where we have Gregory Helms interviewing Paul Burchill and while he keeps trying to talk Goldust is doing his little noise thing. Burchill goes to confront him and a funny as hell promo happens with Goldust and Burchill where he accidentally hits Katie Lea I believe. Paul Burchill is taking on Tyler Reks.. Whoever the hell that is..

For the record I know who he is.. Just don’t care :D

After another commercial break, we come back and get told that Shaq will be the special guest host of Raw next week.. FAILCAKES

Paul Burchill takes on Tyler Reks now with the LOVELY Katie Lea sporting her eye paint look still.. Yummy.. Moving on..  Burchill and Reks have a good struggle of power and put on a good show as each have their own part of the match they control. Both superstars looking on top of their game and bringing it all in the ring. Burchill nails a Saito Suplex. Directly after that Burchill is setting up for something and Tyler Reks nails a schoolboy roll up for the win! He celebrates like he won the superbowl and Burchill looks pissed.  Burchill attacks Reks after the match and leaves him laid out..

Abraham Washington Show up Next.. HIDE YOUR CHILDREN

Abraham Washington LITERALLY bores the crap out of me.. But seeing Tommy Dreamer in an off white suit made my night.. So lets move on! The highlights from this interview are as follows:

-Abraham Washington insults them both multiple times…
-Christian insults Abraham Washington calling his jokes outdated
-Christian hints at a heel turn
-Dreamer says that they are friends and are respectful
-Washington tells Dreamer hes fat again, For the third straight time
-Dreamer calls Washington a “Lego Head”
-Also says he cant wait to return to Philly, The birthplace of ECW, Champion… Is Speical to him
-Christian Interrupts and hints at his heel turn even more and Dreamer says Christian wouldn’t be here next week if he performed his best
-Christian rips on Dreamer for crying and the two go nose to nose
-Christian slaps Dreamer… Dreamer slaps Christian..

And that’s how the show goes off the air! The two of them Jawing off to each other! Cant say im pleased with this end segment but then again I think Abraham Washington needs to take a LONG walk off of a SHORTpier..

Great article but can't understand why you think Mickie James is a crappy wrestler. She is actually one of the few bright lights in the women's division right now

I'm gonna go with Mark Henry as Jericho's partner. I think their matches the last few weeks have hinted at a feud, but that's what they want us to think.

Don't think you can impress me by brown-nosing Goldust or using a word like FAILCAKES. I've seen you comment the articles of others with some pretty sick shit when you yourself can't use any punctuation marks other than!

If you're too stupid to realize that the Johnny Blaze that posts on articles isnt the real one, then you need to crawl under a rock and die slowly.

I agree with Johnny, Dreamer's storyline has run its course, however I feel that the ECW championship needs to be seen on some new blood. ECW is just bsically reapeting itself by letting veterans hold the title. Honestly I would rather see the ECW Championship around Hurricane's waist rather that Christian or Tommy. Another thing I have seen is that Zack Ryder's storyline seems to be orking the fans still HATE him, although I would like to see him turn face just to see how it lays out. Who knows?, maybe Vince will give him a short title run. RANDOM FACT: Did you know that Chris Jericho has teamed with 2 other superstars that share the same name. Both of them Canadian, his first team was with Christian (Christian had just broken up with Edge) they formed a tagteam known as Vitamin C. His other yag team was with Chris Benoit. This team was called The Canadian Cripplers, and they held the WWE Tagteam Championships for just around 2 months. Chris Jericho's storyline has definetly ran its course. He need to get a new one or else the WWE will start losing views. I find his long and boring rants about himself and the fans insufferable. He usually uses the same words also hypocrite, parasite, and worthless. He never expands his vocabulary. QUICK NOTE: For those of you who keep complaining that Johnny sucks, why are you still reading his reports than? If Circular Saw Tim Snuggin is so much better than go post your comments on his blog, and stop infecting these channels with your constant ongoing shpeals. It seems the more Reports I read the more people just want to dog on the authors of them. If t is so easy than you go make one. Keep it cool readers.

Cawcreator: Not that you're wrong about Jericho repeating himself a lot, but I laughed REALLY hard at you accusing Y2J of having a limited vocabulary.

Leave Shaq alone, Johnny. He's friggin awesome. I will fight you over this.

I will, however, be available for council if you would like to plot Abraham Washington's demise together.

Also, Tyler Reks winning with a roll-up? Really? What, do they need to protect Paul Burchill all of a sudden now that he's officially jobbed to everyone on the WWE Roster? Remember how well using a roll-up as a finisher went for Santino?

Mickie James = Me taking cold showers even two weeks after seeing her in the swimsuit match. Not good looking!?!?! Someone needs new glasses :D She is the BOMB unlike those other prima donna bottle blondes.

Yoshi = Growing Awesomeness. I love any wrestler whom can show off kicks like nobody's business. (see Morrison). I am pleasntly suprised by WWE's great selling of Yoshi. I normally hate faces but I like this one.

Koslov = One of my favorites. I know alot of peeps don't like him but there is something about his intensness and down to earth power wrestling that I REALLY like.

Goldust = Awesomness squared! I hope WWE keeps him around for a long time, even if just as a mid carder. The Goldust character has every bit of a chance of being entertaining as Santino. ECW needs him!

G. Helms = Fail as interviewer / superhero ... WHO CARES!?!? He is an awesome wrestler, lets see that please!

Shaq as GM = I don't know....could be good, could be bad. Will he get in a match like Seth? What I do know is ZZ Top as GM = Epic Fail, not even Santino could save that piece of sad crap. For gods sake they weren't even at the event!

A. Washington show = Epic Epic Epic FAIL. SHUT UP ALREADY! ABout as entertaining as watching a jobber get jobberlized. Please get rid of this talk show garbage and have ECW do what ECW should do because I like ECW, have it show 4-5 matches per show! Thats a step in the right direction WWE! Are you listening Vince? :D

Over and out from a ECW fan.

It's a side slam. Why do people think THAT is a Ura-nage? An Ura-Nage is more akin to the side suplex or a sambo suplex than the side slam. You fail at correcting others' failures.

Sorry Von. 5 matches per show is a proven fail. Every time they've ever done it, it's led to 4 of them lasting about two and a half minutes. Let's stick to 3 good ones given some time to develop.

Just days before Night of Champions at 8/5 PT Sunday, those who wander the Land of the Extreme continue to search for a way to become the face of the ever-changing franchise. ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer and Christian crossed paths for the final time before their contest at the pay-per-view, while new Superstars to the brand and to all of WWE made significant impacts, suggesting a new blood may be pumping through the Extreme veins of ECW.
THAT'S SHOULD BE BLAZING

well, i like the article, but a few title observations are in order... jericho's partner could easily be matt hardy as he was hinting a gimmick change on his blog. that would really be something. also i do think mickie james will win as well as triple h, dreamer, mcCool, punk, ziggler, swagger/show (one of those two), jericho&partner. but those are just my thoughts.
and goldust is my favorite superstar, then again all my other favorite superstars aren't wrestling anymore or passed away (perfect, stonecold, owen hart, doink the clown, rvd)

Mickie James is definately the best looking female Wrestler there is in WWE

And it could be Matt Hardy as Jericho's partner, didn't he hint at a new look?

Or Ziggler, that would be a good move, although, he is pretty new still, dunno if he's ready

Whoever posted this, I respect your opinion, but honestly there are NO good wrestlers in the Women's division of WWE anymore. TNA kills them in that respect

Regarding comment 23 ...

Excellent point! But there is always hope for improvement. At least get those crap filler segments out for some good 3-4 matches, perferably 4! I don't watch ECW for interviews, Washington show or any of that mess, I lose interest. Thats what Raw and Smackdown's 2 hours are for.
