A Bite of the News: Hell in a Cell
With Hell in a Cell rapidly approaching, there are many subjects worthy of talking about within the WWE. One of those subjects is that for the first time ever, there will be three Hell in a Cell matches all in one night. And what about the Undertaker being back in one of his specialty matches. This could a crazy weekend in sports entertainment, and I can tell you I’m looking forward to it.
When the Undertaker faces CM Punk this Sunday, there are many possible scenarios of what could happen. Will they give Undertaker his possibly final journey to the top of the World Heavyweight Championship ladder? Or will CM Punk retain? The WWE has to weigh these options on a risk to reward basis.
If the Undertaker is to win the title this far before Wrestlemania, then there is no telling if he will even make it to Wrestlemania on his own two feet. But Taker winning the title is what the fans want. To me, they brought the Undertaker back two months early, because they are risking him injury before even the road to Wrestlemania.
If CM Punk retains, many fans obviously will not be overjoyed. But CM winning is the best option for the company right now. He is doing far beyond what people expected from him as a champion, and the WWE must be happy with that. Even with that on his side, he still might not be Champion at the end of Hell in a Cell.
As usual for this time of year, John Cena and Randy Orton and feuding over the WWE Championship, surprised? I’m not. This is a feud that is good outside the ring, but when Cena and Orton step in the ring it is like a step down memory lane. I feel like we’ve seen this match up so many times, that you know what’s going to happen. And it just becomes boring.
If John Cena is to retain, the WWE universe will be overjoyed. Though this result is highly unlikely in my mind. I fell that we have Cena ‘nuff of John Cena as a face. What would be best is if he turns heel and takes on Batista. Though Batista is on Smackdown! right now, a move to raw would be best in his future. And if he doesn’t move to Raw that is just lost ratings for the WWE. And we all know that ratings equal cash, and giving up cash is not something Vince would do.
If the Legend Killer is to regain the title to the terror of all the WWE fans, then management will be happy again. With Triple H out of the picture this seems like a prime option for Randy to start the reign of Orton again. With Randy having the title going into Survivor Series could make an interesting set up to the classic 10 man tags. With this in mind, I highly consider Randy Orton winning the WWE title at Hell in a Cell.
D-Generation X is taking on The Legacy in the final of the three Hell in a Cell matches. This is the hardest match to predict because it isn’t for a title. Though knowing how HHH has a say in what happens due to the boss being his step-dad it seems like you would figure out who the winner is. But Triple H isn’t the kind of guy who only cares about winning every match, he cares about the company; and that is what makes it the hardest match to predict in my mind.
If D-Generation X is to win the merchandise sales go WAY up. And by that I mean they fly up like a balloon into the open sky. So that would be the economical choice for the WWE. But there are many other pros if DX wins. For example, DX would be able to be used longer then if they lost, because losing is the way to slowly fade away. But it would just be better for the WWE if D-Generation X were to win.
If The Legacy wins, it will cement their Legacy (pun not intended) in the WWE. This is a good and bad thing. The way that it is good is that they can break up Legacy after this if they wish. Because if they beat DX in Satan’s structure, then they can advance Rhodes and DiBiase into singles careers, which they are both eventually going to flourish in.
The fourth most important match in my opinion is the triple threat match for the US title, which consists of Kofi Kingston, The Miz, and Jack Swagger. Having three people in a match can be a good thing, or a very bad thing. A bad thing about triple threat matches is that there is always one person who ends up just leaving the ring. The good part of them is that it really takes a lot of action to end the matches. And this match looks to be one of the better ones.
Kofi Kingston is one of the best rising stars in all of the WWE. He is probably the most electrifying wrestler in the WWE, and he just makes everyone have a good time when he is in the ring. I truly would be surprised if he doesn’t stay as champion until, at least, Bragging Rights, because if he drops the title at that time, then he could be considered for a run at either the WWE championship or the World Heavyweight championship. No matter what, this young man has an incredibly great future ahead of him, and I’m sure he is enjoying every bit of his time in the WWE.
If Jack Swagger is to win, then that would only add another thing that’s American to the “All-American Americans” gimmick. I mean, him having the United States championship would annoy everyone to the point of shutting of the TV when he comes on. But I am not against him getting pushed, because he does deserve it, just not with the United States title. Maybe the Intercontinental title would be a better fit for him, because it is on Smackdown, which I believe is a better place for Jack Swagger.
The Miz is the only real competitor to Kofi in this match. With his new attitude it is a large possibility that the WWE will give him a title. Considering how completely changed his gimmick in such a small amount of time, they might just give him the chance at being a Champion. But since he is facing off against Kofi Kingston in this match, it doesn’t seem like a very good possibility of him winning this match.
A match that I really am looking forward to is the Intercontinental championship bout between the champion John Morrison and the challenger Dolph Ziggler. I have praised John Morrison for a while now, but I never have had the chance to express my thoughts about Dolph Ziggler. This match is going to be my first real chance of openly examining him, and that is something that I very much look forward to doing.
If John Morrison is to retain, then this sets many things into place. One part of this is that it would make him stay Intercontinental champion for a very long time. The reason why he would stay champion for a long time is because he really has nobody around his skill level that would want to win the IC title. For this reason, if he does not drop the title down to Dolph, then the WWE could be offset in many ways.
If the challenger Dolph Ziggler wins, then the WWE would have many more options about what to do with the Intercontinental championship. The reason behind this is that Dolph Ziggler is not as good of a wrestler as John Morrison. And the fact is, with Ziggler as champion, then the WWE would be bringing the skill level down enough for the rest of the WWE to compete for that title. All in all, either man would make a great champion, and to me, it doesn’t matter who wins.
As always, Pay-Per-Views are the best days in the WWE. The wrestling at them is always a cut above the rest of the other shows. And considering Hell in a Cell is a new Pay-Per-View, I can almost know that it will be one of the best of the year. It is hard not to look forward to three Hell in a Cell matches. It is a rare occasion to even see three in one year. So this is going to be a real treat. All in all, the WWE has a much better feel about it now then it did 360 days ago. And as always, I’m here to help people understand the crazy world of wrestling.
So until next week, thanks for reading, and please, all of you, stay current on your news.
