Remove normal move after trademarking?

Postby Tequila Slim on Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:47 am

I read somewhere many moons ago that it was a good idea to disable a move in your move list once trained up to level 5 and trademarked.
Back then this made sense as it said that there was more of a chance of your trademark hitting if the required position occurred.
Didn't worry me back then as my trademarks were pretty weak before leveling.
Now I have access to some big moves like Banzai Drop and Military Press I am wondering if it would be a good idea to leave them in there because of the omph they carry.
What do you guys think, should they be disabled or left?

Hey,i suppose it depends on if its the strongest you have in the position or not i guess..for example i have a level 52 trademarked ankle lock yet the normal ankle lock is level 25 and i woudnt dream of getting rid of that..my other trademark is a level 35 full nelson and the normal full nelson is also level 25 again i coudnt get rid..

I'm guessing if you trademarked the move then its one of your favourite and strongest moves (unless you have had them from near the beginning)so disabling it to let other moves hit in that position when your trademark doesnt trigger would be a waste in my opinion, unless of course all the other moves you have enabled in the required positions are much stronger then yeh obviously you would get rid and just keep it as a trademark.

Trademarks only hit a max of 3 times a match so if you hit 3 fairly quickly and you had disabled the move just because its the same as your trademark yet its stronger than the rest of the moves then that speaks for itself.

think that makes sense, did to me but i may be wrong :p

i would say, get rid of a weaker move if u want the TM to go off more often.
i'm assuming yr TMs are of yr better moves, and thats why u made them yr TM.
so it makes more sense to remove the weakest move

for example, i have three moves in grounded + the TM springboard moonsault.
so ofcourse the spr. moon is one of my regular moves, since it is the best grounded move a speed could get.
it wouldn't make sense to disable it cuz of the TM (which like IA said only goes off 3 times max)
and to have a weaker move there instead.

so imo if u want that TM to go off more often, limit to 3 moves in the position.
then, those 3 moves should be the best 3 moves u got there- regardless of what yr TM is.
thats the simplest way i can say it.
